The Queensland government recently announced that it will extend its First Home Owner Grant program, originally scheduled to end at the end of June 2025, to June 30, 2026. This extension means first-time homebuyers will continue to receive a cash grant of up to AUD 30,000 per household, along with a full stamp duty waiver, encouraging more people to enter the property market and realize their home ownership dreams.

According to the latest guidelines from the Queensland Treasury, this subsidy is applicable to the purchase or construction of a property with a total value of no more than A$750,000.New residential propertiesThe program covers single-family homes, apartments, townhouses, modular homes, and even attached dwellings built on family land (commonly known as "granny flats"). Under pressure to boost home ownership, the Liberal Party uses housing policy to demonstrate its policy direction.
Queensland has faced a structural challenge for years, with low home ownership rates. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, approximately one-third of households in Queensland rent, with the proportion of owner-occupied properties lower than the national average. The extension of the subsidy reflects the Liberal Party's commitment to demonstrating its commitment to livelihoods through housing policy.
Treasurer and Minister for Home Ownership David Janetzki said getting more Queenslanders into home ownership was a core objective for the next decade and extending the grant and stamp duty exemption was the first step in boosting market confidence.

After taking office, Liberal Party leader David Crisafulli announced that the subsidy program would be extended for one year, to June 30, 2026. The extension will allow more first-time homebuyers to make their move with ease, and will also provide additional time and financial flexibility for families considering homeownership.
The Queensland government has extended its First Home Owner Grant program and offered stamp duty exemptions to encourage residents to enter the construction market, support first-time homebuyers, and boost homeownership rates. For prospective buyers still on the fence, now is a critical time to enter the market prudently and capitalize on these policy benefits. Planning early is crucial; don't miss out.
