Funds are withdrawn gradually until they are exhausted. Since July 2007, pension payments have been tax-free for most people aged 60 and over. <strong>Allocated Pension<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Accumulation fund<\/strong><br>A pension fund in which your retirement benefits depend on your and your employer&#039;s contributions, as well as the fund&#039;s investment returns. <strong>Defined Benefit Fund<\/strong> different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Accumulation index<\/strong><br>A composite index that measures price and earnings changes, such as stock price changes and dividends paid. Financial advisors receive fees based on the amount invested through the platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Advance fee fraud<\/strong><br>A scam that tricks victims into paying fees in exchange for the promise of large returns. Also known as the &quot;Nigerian scam.&quot;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AFS Licence (Australian Financial Services License)<\/strong><br>Issued by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), it allows individuals or companies to legally engage in financial services business, including selling, advising on, or trading financial products. Bankruptcy proceedings typically involve the liquidation of assets and the restructuring of debts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Benchmark<\/strong><br>In investing, an index used to evaluate the performance of an investment, such as the ASX200, is widely used as a benchmark index for the Australian stock market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Beneficiary<\/strong><br>The person who is entitled to receive assets or benefits upon the death of the owner. For example, the beneficiaries of a pension fund are usually the members themselves or their family dependents (if the member dies).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bid-ask spread<\/strong><br>The difference between the bid and ask prices for a stock or other asset. This difference is crossed when you buy at the seller&#039;s ask price or sell at the buyer&#039;s bid price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Binding death benefit nomination<\/strong><br>In a superannuation fund, members can nominate beneficiaries, and upon the member&#039;s death, superannuation must be paid to the nominated beneficiary, unless the payment is unlawful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Blue chip share<\/strong><br>Refers to the stock of a company that has a leading position in its industry and has stable long-term profits. It is usually one of the largest companies in the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bond<\/strong><br>A medium- to long-term investment instrument issued by a government or company that provides fixed interest payments and a return of principal at maturity. Often part of a fixed-income investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Break fee<\/strong><br>A fee you may pay if you make early repayment during the term of a fixed-rate loan. The greater the drop in interest rates, the higher the fee may be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bridging finance<\/strong><br>A short-term loan used to bridge the financing gap between purchasing a new home and selling an existing home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Broker<\/strong><br>An intermediary who helps you arrange a contract with a service provider, such as an insurance company or lender. Usually regulated by APRA, also known as a &quot;building society&quot;. <strong>Credit Union<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Buyer advocate<\/strong><br>A professional who provides evaluation and negotiation support to a homebuyer, typically for a fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">C<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Call option<\/strong><br>An options contract that gives you the right (but not the obligation) to buy an underlying asset at a specified price on or before a specific date in the future.
